Qum Rugs - 100% Pure Silk

Qum rugs are woven in workshops in the holy city of Qum, a city of northwest central Iran. Since rug production did not begin in Qum until the 1930s, Qum doesn't have any traditional designs of its own. Qum weavers prefer to weave the most favorable designs of other Persian weaving groups and adjusting these designs to their own taste. All silk Qum rugs are very well-known in Iran and abroad due to the their highest quality: 100% pure silk, unlike any other carpet. Qums are the most modern, attractive, and sought after rugs.

Most Qum rugs have curvilinear patterns, and very elaborate floral motifs with intricate leaves and vines. As mentioned above the designs are varied, taken from different weaving groups. Designs used in Qum rugs consist of vase, garden, hunting, floral, dome, tree-of-life, medallion, or pictorial (including life on the desert), among others.
