Many rugs produced in Tabriz emulate the artististic
heritage of the Persian Safavid carpet,
and when a designer in any part of the world wants to commission
a certain pattern to be
hand-woven, Tabriz is the city that he visits. The Tabriz carpets are
of exceptional quality, finely knotted and made of strong
lustrous wool, therefore they are very durable. There are old carpets in private homes, used for
years, which are still in excellent condition, and the colors
(vegetable dye)
have kept their brightness.
